Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What is the process to get on our waitlist?

We ask everyone who would like to be on our waitlist to fill out our puppy questionnaire. Then we keep in touch with you via emails on updates on our kennel, our activities and any planned or upcoming breedings or litters. We ask you to reply to those emails so we know who is still actively interested in being on our waitlist. Please add our email to your safe senders list!! We do NOT ask for deposits until puppies are born, we do not like holding anyone financially hostage to this big of a decision!

  • Are Wirehaired Vizslas high energy and what is their trainability?

This breed is a higher energy breed without bouncing off the walls in the house. Since this breed is highly trainable and smart, they do the best with intentional training. We suggest crate training and training a "place" or "bed" command that can be used to communicate that your dog needs to settle in the house. If a wirehaired vizsla knows the rules of the house and what is expected of their behaviour, they are a calm and wonderful family dog. Our dogs get walks or training almost every day. However, life can happen and we miss 2 or 3 days of walks (or it's negative 30 degrees out and no one wants to walk!) and quick training sessions in the house can calm the dogs. Mental activity is as important as physical activity for these dogs!

  • Are Wirehaired Vizslas good with kids and strangers?

Yes! Our dogs live in our home with our 2 children. We regularly have visitors with kids and all our dogs are respectful of space or commands. We have trained our dogs not to jump on kids and to be gentle (gentle/calm command). Since this breed can be aloof some of our dogs like lots of pets and some come to greet, get a head pat and then they go back to their beds. Our dogs will bark when a car or person is in our driveway, this is by CHOICE. We live in the country and prefer our doggy doorbells to alert us of anything going on outside the house.
